Airports:

The Convention Location is conveniently located near three major airports:

  • San Jose International (SJC)
  • San Francisco International (SFO)
  • Oakland International (OAK)

While we recommend you fly into San Jose (it is the closest), San Francisco and Oakland are not bad options to consider given you may find better rates flying into one of these airports.

That said, many airlines do offer direct flights to San Jose from many airports across the country. United Airlines has non-stop flights from the DC Area, Boston, and Chicago. American Airlines has a number of non-stop fights coming into San Jose as well and would be worth looking into – especially by our fellow members from the Southern Chapter. Southwest Airlines and Jet Blue are two other carriers that offer relatively inexpensive and direct flights to San Jose.

All of the airlines listed above also service San Francisco. Another airline to consider for our VPA members from the Mid West is Northwest Airlines, which offers non-stop flights from Detroit, DC, and Newark.

Given the weekend will be a busy one for travelers, we urge you to book now to get the best fare possible. Some travel sites to explore include: www.orbitz.com, www.priceline.com, www.flycheap.com, and www.expedia.com.

Rental Cars:

Although you might not need a rental car during the Convention, it might be the best way to travel to the hotel as the hotel is not reachable via public transportation. Unless you plan on traveling around during the Convention, you may want to synch up your travel plans with other members so you can split the cost of a car for the weekend. The hotel offers ample parking free of charge.

All rental car agencies service SJC, SFO, and OAK. While Hertz and Avis can offer good rates, we urge you to consider typically inexpensive alternatives such as Budget, Enterprise, etc.
